Anyone sold a 4.3 lately?

As the title suggests, has anyone sold a Tuscan lately with a 4.3 upgrade? I'm considering selling mine in the New Year, but I'm a bit stumped on how to price it given the recent £9k investment in oily bits. Unfortunately cars with guaranteed 4.3 lumps are like hens teeth in the classifieds, so it's not as simple as just looking what else is out there.

Any guidance from recent sellers would be appreciated, either on here or by personal email via my profile if you're happy to share your experience.

I had mine up for sale earlier in the year, and its still listed on TVR powers web site at £20,995.
I originally started at £24.950 as I wanted to sell to finance my Escort Rally car project [ well if you don’t ask you don’t get!! ] reduced it to £22,950 after around a month or so.
I had a few tentative enquiries, nothing serious before I reduced it.
After I had my one and only view, a very nice Polish chap who could not fault the car [ he wanted to, to get he price down ] he offered me £20,000 for it.
After looking at the wife’s facial expression, I turned down the offer.
I did not realise she was so attached to the Tuscan!!, women!!!!

A week later, she changed her mind, so I gave the Polish chap a call but he had bought anther Tuscan to have the 4.3 conversion done himself!

Now, I do not really want to sell, as I like the car a lot, but if the right price comes along, it would pay for a nice sequential G box and 2.3 Duratec plus other goodies

Slightly O/T but how does the 4.3 upgrade effect insurance? Is there anyway of someone knowing it has been done?

My insurance went up by about £17 on a £500 annual policy - not bad for a 70bhp increase! I think my insurers figure that a Tuscan is pretty high risk already.

You can tell a 4.3 fairly easily as it has "TVR POWER 4.3" stamped on the exhaust side of the block. I suppose if you were sneaky you could ask Dom to omit that, but it's a stupid risk in my opinion; ignoring the obvious potential for even a halfwit loss adjuster to wriggle out of a huge 3rd party injury claim, bankrupting you forever, if you write the car off you want the insurers to recognise that it's had 10 grand's worth of engine work in their valuation!

p.s. If you're thinking of having it done over a standard rebuild, I wouldn't even think twice - it's turned the car into a complete animal, yet it will pootle along in 4th at 30mph without complaining.

Hmmmm, beat me to it with this thread. I've toyed with the idea of selling mine due to my having the attention span of a goldfish. I've had the Tuscan two and a half years, a year and a bit since the 4.3 rebuild which is some kind of record for me. I just have another TVR project in mind and can't afford both. Trouble is every time I drive the Tuscan I can't imagine not having it. It's tractable, lazy in an almost V8 kind of way, but when you turn up the wick whoops anything else around for the money and even a lot costing more money.

Anyone want to buy a kidney?
