Hi guys,
This is slowly driving me round the bend....
Its MOT time again, and the car passed everything perfectly apart from the emmisions, I had it de-catted earlier in the year (which I am starting to regret). I tried the de-cat chip from TVR Power but it made little difference.
I am loathed to buy new cats Christmas is coming and Dom just stripped out the insides of the old ones as they were knackered anyway so I dont have any to fit -even if I wanted.
Does anyone have any fantastic ideas?
Cheers!

I spoke to secret TVR garage about this issue, as I have the same decat and chip. Their answer was to arrange the test through them and they would tweak the map or something for the test and put it back after, which works for me as I am only 50 mins away. Otherwise, I think its buy some cheap cats for the test. I have seen cheap ones that fit pre 2001 cars (no BS number) for around £110 each.
Alex,
I gave this advice about 1 month ago on here - it might help (it might not).
Regards
Phil

When I spoke with Jason at Str8Six, he advised me that as the Tuscan exhaust exit is quite large, you need to 'block' it up with a rag after the emissions probe is inserted as this then prevents any drawback of air in between exhaust strokes. (block it up in the losest sense of the phrase, whilst still stopping the draw back of air IYSWIM) The draw back of air upsets the MOT lambda probe thingy and it will giver erroneous readings. My CO at fast idle took a lot of attempts to pass last year, whist at idle they were fine. This year, no issues whatsoever and I believe it was down to how they did the emissions test.
Mine is not a decat so this may not work with you - but it might be worth a go.Regards
Phil
Thanks for all your feedback guys, last year I used a friendly garage but the 'friendly' chap there had since departed...
I think I will take up Maceys offer, I found a garange who are happy to put the cat on and test then whip it back off, although whilst writing this it sounds very stupid and a bit of a waste of time! But hey...
Cheers everyone!
Alex.

Mine is decatted and fitted with Power chip but I've ended up buying some of the cheap cats for MOT use only as it wouldn't get through.[ I found a garange who are happy to put the cat on and test then whip it back off, although whilst writing this it sounds very stupid and a bit of a waste of time! Bet they can do it in record time at an extra premium,
Mark the bolts before hand, take a picy and re check after mot, or ask to wait in there viewing area.
What % of tuscans would actualy go through a VOSA test? these things get loged in on the stations computer, vosa can see, wait outside the mot station to see the test result ,pull the car after a pass and re test it there and then. They are not stupid they know what figures to expect from data base.
Verry soon all mots will have video link and be directly conected to all gas analisers and brake testers etc so we could be fubared big time...
Cheers everyone!
