Mk1 S - how to spot one

The MK1 Tuscan S can not really be spotted just by the spoilers because quite a few have now been converted in to S look a likes (that sounds very 80s). As far as I know the none S versions had high level indicators in the back window, the S versions didn't have these as they had them built in to the rear body.

Definitely - it's luck of the draw, especially the way TVR built the early engines. Best way to be sure you have a quick one is to buy a 4.3

Do you know the specifications of this model?
According to supercarworld a standard 4.0 Tuscan does 0-60 in 4,3s and 0-100 in 9,4s.

The 4.3s tend to put out somewhere between 410 and 430bhp at the flywheel, so up to 375bhp at the wheels, depending on the exhaust (Tuscan exhausts are less restrictive than T350s' and Tamoras', apparently). They also develop around 370lb.ft of torque, well above the 300lb.ft of a standard 4.0, which is what makes the biggest difference in feel during day-to-day driving.
No idea what the 0-60 and 0-100 would be. Given that the original TVR press Tuscan S would have been at least blueprinted to be the best example imaginable, I would expect the 4.3 to easily match those figures, so 4ish to 60 and definitely sub 9sec to 100. If you have a close ratio gearbox the numbers will be even better; not having to make a gearchange to reach 60mph and only 1 change to 100mph should knock a few 10ths off!
Regardless, the 4.3 rebuild changed my Tuscan 3.6 from feeling very quick (just as quick as a friend's 4.0 Red Rose in the real world) to now feeling absolutely bonkers - it's frightening how quick it is when you use all the throttle travel!

I'm after a mk1 Tuscan and some are advertised as "s" spec. How do you tell? I thought one of the tell tales was the rear spoiler but I don't think so anymore.

Also bear in mind there were Tuscan Red Roses that came before the S. These are even harder to spot as they didn't have the aero amendments but had a number of other performance upgrades including bigger brakes (relatively easy to spot compared to the 'under- bonnet' ones). Thanks
