Hi took the Tuscan for a shakedown prior to Autosports and noticed the display wasn't working at all, it is on the list of things to do but I was curious if I could fix it prior to the inevitable purchase of a new screen. I am also working on a replacement part number.

Anyway for those who haven't done it before here are some photos,




















Interestingly enough taking it apart, drying it and putting it back together got it 90% better. As you can see it was a Surface mount board, and has 96 as a build date, so it has lasted 3 years. Can't quite work out what the failure mode is, but I think it is the alignment of the connector onto the LCD.

I know it a pain in the arse taking the dash off again, but if you do at some point and your already committed to buying a new display then there is no harm in trying to fix this one.

If you twist the little metal tabs on the back of the board that hold the screen on and then separate the screen from the board you will see two silicon looking tabs on either side of the display, if you remove these, they are held in place by the pressure of the screen and nothing else. Then give them a clean up with a lint free cloth and give the glass screen a wipe where they were located you may find you get all the lines back. Worth a try.

As you can see from my blue tuscan dash post i've had mine apart a few times and i needed to do this to get mine working properly again as a bit of dust had got in whilst working on it.

I would only recommend this if you are already committed to buying a new one as i wouldn't want anyone to make there's worse.
