Blowing Fuses when selectin reverse

Every time I select reverse, the fuse blows, so the brake lights don't work either. Disconnected the reversing light so that leaves the reversing switch or a break in the wiring. Does anyone have a wiring diagram. About to attempt to get to the reversing switch has anyone any tips.

I had the same problem. I had my garage sort out the bad connection between the pin on the gear stick and the plate . I'm afraid its a real TVR bodge job, apparantly the proper connection could not be used because of the heat caused by the proximity to the exhaust. You can get at it from underneath with the car on a ramp ,but its awkward, otherwise its take the centre console off.

I also had this problem and it was the reverse light switch that is mounted on the gearbox next to the gear stick.

The plastic insulator between the ball bearing and switch internals had worn a tiny hole in it which shorted it out every time reverse was selected. Its an old ford part but they no longer stock them, you can buy them from the normal TVR suppliers. As has already has been said its a center console out job to fit it.

Its fairly simple job to fit although the lack of space doesn't help.

Sorted, it's the reversing switch, all disconnected, up and running, thankfully I don 't do much reversing in the dark.

As a matter of interest.. Is that an MOT failure ??? No reversing light ?


Oh.. Just noticed you are in France.... Well what do the French know about TVRs .. Tell them it never had a light

No its not an MOT failure, however its up to you to keep your vehicle in a roadworthy condition so the police can still stop you for it.

I had that problem when driving in Wales.
Had to change the fuse every time I had to reverse !!!!
Came back(>800km) without having to reverse once.

Problem was located in the gear-box reverse contact which is a Ford part. Finally a 4 hours dealer-job.
