Hi All
Went down to the seaside today to collect a couple of eBay purchases and happened upon "Chichester Canvas". I thought to myself- "I bet they made the hoods for Jago Developments."

So I went in and spoke to the very nice lady who said that they did but, the guy had left them and started his own business. Even as she was saying this she was writing down his details for me.

I went down to Chidham but he wasn't there so I phoned him and asked him about the possibility of making hoods and shipping them. He said he would be happy to make them as a "component" in that he would make the hood but the recipient would have to fit it.

He'd probably need a pattern for the first one. I didn't talk to him about prices.

He agreed to have his phone number forwarded so:

If anyone proceeds, let us know how you get on.
Cheers

Hi All
Went down to Sarf Lunnun today to collect an eBay purchase and happened upon "The Chair Shop" at Mitcham Junction.

I spoke to Phil who makes tonneaux and hoods for boats, cars, etc in canvas and vinyl as well as the full range of furniture upholstery. He'll even replace stitched-in plastic windows- all the stuff was there in the shop along with his trusty HD Pfaff sewing machine. He accused boat chandlers of "charging an arm and a leg" so his prices should be reasonable.

He agreed to have his phone number forwarded so:

This is a Sylva owner describing the tonneau cover on his Fury:

Yes, and excellent it is too (although there's no screen or doors to get in the way). Mine was purpose made for a previous owner of my car by:

C A Upton & Son
Coach Trimmers, Motor & Marine Upholsterers
Yew Tree Works
Victoria Av.
Hastings
01424-436329

although I've no idea if they're still going. It was £180 in June 2000, has press-studs all round, flaps to fit round the bottom of the roll bar and a zip down the middle.

I am familiar with Master Covers, based at Port Solent Marina in Portsmouth (I used to work a few doors down).

I have not used tham myself, but have seen some of their work which looks good. A friend of mine in the marine industry also works with them and uses them when he needs covers, so if he uses them they can't be all bad! They have been around for a few years too.

Hope this helps.

Pete
