The 25 year rule went a while back. If you can prove the donor vehicle was manufactured before 01/01/73 then you can get exemption and the gucci black and silver numbers plates. If not then your like i am 3 months too late

Negative, the tax rule applies to when the vehicle was last registered. If registered as a kit e.g: 10 years ago, then for tax purposes the vehicle is 10 years old.

I stand corrected.
A friend does up moggy minors and went down the aforementioned line to get tax exemption.
The difference was his wasn't a kit.
Sorry

i checked this with dvla and this is the reply i got

"I should advise that if it shows on your V5/V5C registration document that
the Q registered vehicle is registered/manufactured before 1/1/1973 you may
then apply for a free tax disc under the Historical taxation class at your
local DVLA office (list contained on the web site below) by producing :-

The V5/V5C registration document/certificate,

MOT

Insurance

If you have any vehicle registered/made after that date you would normally
have to pay for the tax disc.

Please phone me on telephone no. 01792/766260 if you require further
information"
