Reading a post on steering and had to mention my recent experience with front spings. Bought my geep years ago and lived with hard ride rs2000 springs gave as no bump steer but oh those speed bumps!. Rust and and mot forced me into fitting 1600 capri struts, sits a bit lower and steering was haywire till I altered tracking,(adjusted till right). LOADS GOODERER
Springs need to be correct for weight!

years ago got very very very fed up with a 2000E corsair v4 chucked it away and fitted a 1600 x flow wasnt much slower all was fine till i had an emergency stop made a sort of br br br br noise and left little skid marks on the road as the wheels locked and the tyres "pattered" scared me sh... to bug.... erm... a lot lol
mk 2 cortina springs substituted and when you braked the front dipped and all was fine - stupid really as the v4 was a well heavy lump of iron compared to an xflow - if it was meant for an rs2000 and you have a pinto lump fitted it'll be ok but hard but pinto springs on a crossflow will definately be too hard i was told my front struts were 1600 sport stiffish but still compliant rears are single leaf fitted with a codged up helper spring and Tonka supplied spax's [ty mate] much better than the shox i took off which on down stroke had no resistance but worked on up stroke???
bottomed out but yet spring was damped
pretty good now
though not had all camping gear in yet
under 2 weeks till harrogate so will report how it is improved [ i hope]
[late night after pub rant service is restored!!!!!]
