Does anyone have any Mk2 Escort rear spring hangers going spare, or know any one/where I can get a set?

Started rear spring replacement project only to discover bolts shearing all over the place - I think it's trying to tell me something!

Anyhow, if anyone has any suggestions as to locating the beasts I would be very grateful (and part with readies of course!)

if you cant get any drill out broken bolts and replace with suitable sized shanked bolts
i have done this in the past works just fine
several geeps are running 70s style jack up kits which consist of flat plates with holes in and bolts
with a pillar drill and a vice easy to manufacture from flat bar or an engineering shop would knock some up
4 cuts and 2 holes in 4 flat bars
insert bolts tighen up job done

They are like hens teeth to get hold of I'm afraid.

If you want the real deal then either look out for a good used set and blast and repaint them - as I have. Or try Bret at Autorecycle - a great help for these kind of obscure parts

Good luck

This site looks like it might help:

trixbitz.co.uk

although £25 each seems a bit steep.

I remember getting jack up kits and just hacksawing off the excess.

The original hangers tended to break at the bolt base from rust in any case.

Just a little more info to add to boldfish reply.

Looks like the £25 'spring hanger' is the steel panel that welds to the chassis leg for you to bolt your spring 'shackle' to. Pressuming that you will be wanting the 'shackle' and not the escort panel there is some good news for you. Further down the same list there is indeed a 'shackle' priced at a very reasonable £8 per side.

Hope this helps - not wanting to put boldfishes nose out as this is a usefull site for your favourites.

All done - Mike sorted me out with a very good looking set of rear hangers (and a build manual, so there's no stopping me now!)

Thanks to all for the helpful suggestions.

Ah, now you remember that kitchen I said I had to fit? Well, it's being fitted! No Harrogate for me this year, but you know how I love long journeys!

Extra incentive to get out of the house next year is the expected arrival of my very own baby Jago enthusiast! Due Jan 5th to be precise so wish me luck for Christmas and New Year!!
