you can also just change the dif which is less work only slight headache can be pulling the drive shafts using a slide hammerwould be best if you could work out what ratio you have
best way ive found to ge an approx os chock front wheels jack up and axle stand one rear wheel
as ratios are 3.77 3.9 4.125 4.444 [that covers the common ones] if you put a mark on one tyre and one on the propshaft get a mate to turn the wheel till the props rotated 10 times while he counts how many times the wheels rotated [you will be underneath counting prop rotations]this will give you 37 - 39- 41 or 44 wheel rotations and you will be pretty sure you know what ratio you have
i have a 4.125 1300 dif woth a 1600 pinto and autoon 14" wellers [what size wheels are you running?] 25 ish round the town over 30mpg on a run as long as i dont exceed the "wall" which is at about 55 - 60 mph where the bricklike aerodynamics requires a massive increase in throttle to make it go any faster
i'm assuming mew plugs points filter etc have been fitted the timings right etc points especially can affect mpg the other point worth noting is how much axles are fetching seen them on ebay at over 100 quid and your axle is a good one with no noise [i presume] there are a lot of worn ones out there as the newest is 25 years old i have 2 broken difs one off each of my cars

Hi,
I have just removed a 3.9 from my jago and fitted a 4.4 as this better suits my trialing.
If you have a 4.1 or 4.4 fitted in your Jago I will gladly swap my diff with yours as this would help us both out.
Let me know if you are interested.
Steve.
P.S. If any other Jago owners have a 4.1, 4.4, or 4.7 in there garage and want to sell I would be interested.
Thanks.
