Another Geep for Sale in Scotland
Discussion
After a year of ownership, I have deicded to part with my Jago. It's a great, fun car but it doesn't suit our family crcumstances. My Geep is red,V registered and is correctly described on the V5. It has the 1300HC engine and runs very well. I have 14" Wellers in superb condition, with tyres that have thousands of miles left on them. Also available are 13" wheels with roadworthy tyres. I have a soft-top and one zip-in door (passenger side) and a bull bar that is not presently fitted, an Escort manual and a build manual.
The Jago is taxed for 5 months but the MoT has just expired. I cleverly broke my arm a few weeks ago and it isn't up to doing the small amount of work that might be necessary to get it through. There's some rust on the N/S strut and somehow it has passed all its previous MoTs without a battery restraint. I thought they were compulsory but perhaps not. With respect to the strut, I will supply a replacement, though you might have to swap the insert. Some paint is slightly faded, nothing horrible, I must try the baby oil cure! Otherwise, this is a rock solid Geep. Bring a sharp object and poke at the chassis to your heart's content. Take the end caps of the chassis and look inside. You won't see any flakiness. I'll be looking for about £550, depending on what you want wrt spare wheels, etc. I'd also consider a swap / p/ex for a Triumph Herald (more family friendly).
I'm based in Central Scotland, only a few miles from the M8 and M74.
If you're interested, e-mail me at gregor@steele3.freeserve.co.uk and I'll send you a phone number.
Thanks for reading this far!

Do they all go for this sort of money ?
From memory I think there's a bit about cost/value os second hand Jeeps on the Tech Page. I guess you can get hold of a Jago ranging from being given one to paying as much as you like. My first Jeep (about 8 years or so ago now) cost me £1400. I wrongly 'assumed' that by paying good money bought you a good car, which may or may not be the case. The Jeep I own now, I bought off e-bay. Again buyer beware. It cost me £500, t&t, mot'd, etc.
I think one very important thing before parting with your cash is to CHECK the V5. I didn't and had all sorts of problems due to the V5 not showing the correct details. This has already been documented elsewhere (in Transmissions) although I'd be happy to send you a copy if it helps. There's two forums running at the mo, so you could ask on the other one as well...http://jagoownersclub.co.uk/..... click on Forum and ask away. The new site caters for additional chat, items for sale, computer questions etc., as well as purely Jago related stuff.
Another place to hunt is previously mentioned e-bay, and of course Transmissions www.transmissionsonline.org.uk/
I hope this helps

Thanx for the info driftwood .The only thing that will put me off getting one is the rear seat prob. and the associated leg room for it . I s'pose I could always stretch the body/chassis a foot or so ! !! lol I wish I'd have thought of a geep b4 I bought my Locost . BTW I remember when Jago first marketed it ,saw it in Hot Car magazine I think !! Another fact that appeals is the Ford running gear,I 've been a Ford fan for many years . I may put my MK2 Escort up for sale to finance getting one b4 I let go of the Locost .Hmmmmm ....
I understand what you're saying....I can't offer any first hand advise on owning a four seater Jago, it was as much as I could do to get the other half in my first Jeep, so I barely needed 2 seats, let alone 4! I do have two grown up sons, and to be honest, I can't imagine them travelling in the back, even if I had a rear seat fitted.
I may well get shot down in flames for this, but have you considered the Eagle Jeep at all? They are based on the later Willy's and are bigger. I know this is a Jago Club, but there's little point in me saying, yeah go for the Jago knowing full well you could be wasting your money and disappointed as it won't fit the bill.
Better still though (back to flying the Jago flag) I reckon your idea of stretching the chassis/frame is a good one. I've seen a pic of a stretched Willy....
no, that one's tooooo gooood to to get rid of.....and personally reckon you'd end up with a nice motor that fitted your needs a treat.....the piccy is on one of the flatfender sites somewhere via google.
You also mentioned Hot Car.....there's a name I've not heard of for a while...just wonder how many of us have been influenced by that particular mag?

Derek Roberts (once club membership sec) had a four seater Geep, using Landrover squab seats IIRC and there was more than adequate room in the back for me and the GF (6 foot tall and long legs), we spent a long day offroading with him and Heather (his wife) on the moors round Pickering and still came away smiling.
it's all about how high you make your rear seat platform I think...
I seem to remember Dereks was constructed from 1" square tube and bolted to the chassis, with seat belts from roll cage to chassis mounts.
but for a real four seater option, still flying the Jago flag, why not go for a Samuri?
(rare I'm sure, but still great fun)
good luck.

Good words Tony, I had my Jeep head on when writing my previous post.....and a pair of blinkers as well lol......it was the stretched Willy that done it! ....of course, I should have mentioned the Jago Samuri. Gasser,if you contact Dave (ie DrSeg) he's got a Sam and Jeep, so he'll be able to give you a first hand lowdown on both. Catch him on his profile here or post on the new website.
You guys are really being helpful ..thanx! Well,I dont really fancy one of them Eagle Jeeps ,and although the Samuri is 4 seater ,I'm not a great fan of the shape .What I suppose all this boils down to in my case ,is that I've had some serious fun in the Locost, but want to move on to something else ! Over the years ,Ive built loads of chopped/channeled modded cars ,but the one BIG prob is that no matter what you do body wise ,after throwing s**t loads of money at the bodywork the old tin worm always wins ...now with a 'glass body and heavy chassis ,it aint got much chance ,so I think I've found my Niche with a 'practical' car like a Geep . I could change the appearance easily by welding /'glassing etc to my own taste ,subtle changes . thats what I like !
Must admit Ive always fancied having a go down the strip ,having once owned a Yank tank that had done quite a few 1/4 mile passes in its chequered past.
One of the web groups I belong to have regular trips to York Dragway and next time I think I will join them for the RWYB.
They also have a rolling road shootout booked for 1st October which I am taking the Geep along to just to add a bit of humour to what will no doubt become a far too serious event on the day!

My interest in Dragging started when I was taken to the '65(or was it '66?)Dragfest at the Pod ,by my older brother .I was instantly hooked on the cars etc . Have spent many meetings at the Pod in my youth as a spectator.I only go to the European Finals nowadays, cos thats when you get to see a huge selection of the serious quick stuff running . My 18 yr old son is a fan too ,but quite how we'll get all the stuff onto/into the Locost for the trip tomorrow I don't know!!!
