Hi guys

Im fitting an electric fan to the geep during the rebuild. 2 litre single OHC Pinto. Have a friend who has kindly turned me an aluminium temp switch/sender housing to fit in top hose - like those on sale in kit mags for £16-20. Do I have to select a specific temp range for the sender or should i use a standard Mondeo, Fiesta, Focus, etc. one? Any ideas guys.

Perhaps the Rs Escort Mk1 and 2 guys are the people i should ask - guess they do this all the time?

Any info greatly recieved

Not an easy one this Frosty.
But, the safest route i'd follow is to use a Pinto engined Sierra or Transit Fan switch, which should be in the same ballpark.
Good Luck,

If you can tell me what thread size you have had put in the housing I will look up the appropriate sender at work and let you know a part number which will help when getting one.

OK both these senders use M22 x 1.5 thread.
Most Sierra OHC's used a viscour fan so no fan switch.
As you are making the unit for the switch to go in from scratch (plus quite a few Ford vehicles use fan switches of the above thread anyway) I have selected two switches. The first has two short wires with bullets connector ends and the second has spade connectors on the unit. Both these making life easy regards wiring in.

Right switch one part number SNB 726 usually fitted to a wide range of Fiat vehicles. The switching temperature being 92 - 87 degrees C.

Switch two part number SNB 714 usually fitted to a wide range of Peugeot vehicles. The switching temperature being 82 - 67 degrees C.

Both part numbers are Lucas and I have selected the above to allow the engine to run efficently but without risking overheating.
