My Geep is now ready for its MOT! (big thanks to the Kilfords!)

2 weeks ago Adrian Flux quoted me £888 3rd party/fire/theft (I'm 21). I phone them back today to take them up on the quote...now mentioning I'm in the club and that I'd heard we get a discount...now it's £1488 and the only thing to change should have made it cheaper!

Like WHAT?!

Same story with Graham Sykes...was £766 2 weeks ago...now £1050.

Grrrr is all my angry neanderthal mind can come up with right now.

Without my Geep for longer :o(

Did they say/ did you ask WHY? Surely this can't be down to the Katrina bandwagon. I guess it's possible for a company to misquote, but to hear of two companies doing the same.........Please,please,please don't get me going on insurance companies/brokers stories though lol

edited to add that I'm with Graham Sykes who I've found to be well switched on to the modded/kit/custom stuff....not like some....whoops, there I go again

Hi Driftwood,

the only thing I could get out of them were "your last quote was on Augusts rates, now we're on Septembers rates".

Still, what the deuce! (A quote for the Family Guy viewers there..)

Hi Dave...welcome to the Driftwood Forum lol.....
I've been using Graham Sykes for several years now and seem to be on first name terms with them...out of plain nosiness/curiousity I've e-mailed them on hearing your news, cos it may well affect me when my Jeep gets on the road and of course my Son Matthew as well as he'll be driving it too.

Glad to hear your Jeep's ready all but MOT by the way, you'll get it on the road one day Dave, then the fun really begins.

Good evening Dr Casual Bob (A younger member of the Jago owning profesion?) and Dr Driftwood- if it is any consolation we have just added my daughter (just learning to drive 17) to the insurance on my old Saab and discovered an extra £650 was the minimum I could get away with. I'm presuming the guy on the other end of the phone was wearing the black and white stripey jumper, eye mask and was holding a bit of lead pipe and hisjemmy inhis hand with his sawn off shotgun on the floor beside his SWAG and loot bag...
Don't say I could have bought another Jago.............. she shares her mother's sense of humour

Have to say try Roadsure, discounts for Jago members and they underwrite their own policies, got to be worth a try.
I've been with em since my first Jago and TP F&T costs me £79 (after saying no thanks to legal protection)
have to be worth a shout

Hi all,

I've been using Graham Sykes for a few years now, and It's only about £125 TPFT, old fart driving. It's so cheap I've ket it insured while it's off the road so I get fire and theft cover, and don't have to worry about losing the no claims. They are helpful, give them a call!!

Hi guys ,Just thought I'd let you know I 'phoned graham sykes insurance ,their direct comparison quote with flux (but without being able to drive any other car 3rd party ) was 60 quid cheaper . CIC Insurance was £70 cheaper !! I used to use cic for my customised cars ,but never knew they now did kit cars 'til I came to this site ,so thanx to all !!
