SELLING VEHICLES
Discussion
I dont know about you lot ,but I absolutely HATE& dread the selling process of vehicles ! Sometimes I'd sooner crush the thing or leave it to rot ! So many messers and tyre kickers ! I'm not saying people should not refuse to buy your vehicle ,freedom of choice and all that ,but I have had some bad experiences . I dont mind answering questions from like minded people ,but some just aint got a clue ,and I,m sure do it for something to do on a w/end ,and havent got the slightest intention of buying ! Am I being stupid about this --Yep I'm PARANOID about it!lol! Any one feel the same ?
No you are not paranoid from previous experience and as I work in the motor trade I agree you are right some folks do in fact look on for sale vehicles as a weekend activity and will just go around with no intention of buying. More often than not they are just out to pick faults with any vehicle they look at. I guess to them it fills some void in their dull lives. We even get some (thankfully not many) who come to companies like ours just to try to mess us about hoping we will say that what we do is a waste of time.
If you have been to any vehicle shows you will also spot them. They are often the ones no matter what vehicle it is will say "I wouldn't have one of those if you paid me" or such similar phrases. They will walk around the entire show doing that then moan that it was a waste of the admission fee and their time to anyone who will listen.
Its a funny old world when you think about it and often annoying.
Cheers.

You're not alone with this one. I've had so many experiences dealing with absolute t
ts when it comes to selling cars, that I now part-ex my car when it comes the time to have something different with the garage I've been using for years. Also, I find it difficult dealing/coping with fools, most of them should have been put down at birth, so I guess I'm not 100% perfect after all
It's not only cars.....from time to time we sell a few odds and ends in the local rag...and some of the calls we get are amazing...

Many years ago I advertised my BMW 1602 which had a full turbo style body kit and white with Martini stripes paintwork in Auto Trader.
I had dozen of calls within the first few hours and one local guy came down drove it around for about 20 minutes nearly red-lined it in every gear then when we got back he asked if he could jack it up , I said fine as he seemed very interested , he spent an hour doing something akin to an AA inspection then announced it was a very nice car but not the TR7 or X1/9 he was looking for.............! (told you it was a long time ago , where are they all now?)
I did sell it later the same day for just shy of the full asking price to a young guy who took one look at it and got his cash out before driving it , those were the days when sellers were trusted , with the level of calls I had over the next few days maybe I should have invited half a dozen potential buyers down and auctioned it off....!
Which funnily enough happened to a friend of mine who was selling a Ford Dealer built RS Turbo Cabriolet he had it advertised at £2000 ono but when Mr Late and Mr On-Time both turned up at exactly the same time he ended up with about £100 more!

I've had my share too, mainly with really silly offers who then get shirty when you point out what similar vehicles have sold for recently. Definitely a case of keeping one's expectations low- guaranteed not to be disappointed then.
Having said that, the sales paddock at the Donington Show always looks interesting with realistic prices. Usually people anxious to raise the boodle for their next project. Not sure how serious the buyers are but on the basis that it's only a two day event, there's not much time to mess around. Now someone prove me wrong...

I was selling a caravan a while back . So many punters came to dig/prod/pull the thing apart ,I got fed up ,so the next one to turn up ,I said heres the keys ,have a look ,if you dont want it ,just put the keys thro the letter box!and I shut the front door on them ! My missus was gobsmacked ,'how could you do that ?' 'Easy' I said ! They didnt buy it ! Ended up scrapping it !
Apart from weekend viewers ,I think a lot of people think that you are trying to pull a fast one on them ,and have bodged something up .
