Removing the twin-40 Weber carbs
Discussion
I tried removing the rocker cover yesterday so I could give it a bit of a clean (yes, I like cleaning little bits like that makes the car look so much better) but I couldn't remove it completely because the carbs were in the way and I can't see where to unbolt/screw them.
Was wondering, where are the bolts so I can remove it? If it makes it any easier to answer, my engine is a Ford 1600GT.
Also having trouble putting the screws back in.....

is it just the cables preventing removal of rocker cover?
if so cables disconnect usually with a solderless nipple -amall tube with a hole drilled across and a screw running down tube - cable goes through the hole across tube and screw is tightened
if you want to remove the carbs as a unit the manifold will unbolt from the block
if you want to remove carbs from manifold DONT they are tightened up very specifically so that carbs just pinch a carb sized "o" ring between carb and manifold - too tight it pinches and an air leak occurs then it wont run properly - theres a haynes manual on 40 dcoe carbs thats worth a read if you are gonna mess with them
rocker screws are always a pain cos the cork gasket prevents the screw just slipping in - usually it takes screwing to get through the gasket
try sliding rocker cover round on top till you can see the holes for screws and if neccesary use 2 cross head screwdeivers to keep it in the right place screws in other 2 holes loosely remove screwdrivers and loosely put remaining screws in then tighten being aware not to go too mad and over tighten them
good luck!!
