I've acquired some H7 Philips GT150 bulbs from Evo for subscribing (I did request H1s but as I say they sent H7s instead).

Will these fit my Geep? My friend reckons they will but not knowing which type of bulb it takes I'm not sure if it'll damage it or not by putting the wrong ones in.

Hard to say really if they physically fit then you are half way there , the trouble is there are so many different types of headlamps used from Mini to original Escort , Cibies , flat RS ones and that doesnt include the free-standing ones with integral bowl from SVC Europa etc

I don't think that H1 and H7 bulbs are interchangeable-

No it doesn't look like they can be swapped.

i agree, h7's are used in most modern cars, for the reason being that modern car high beam tends to be dip and main beam together, this requires 2 bulbs, as the older style single bulb cannot have both elements on for long.
the h1 is primarily intended for special application and spotlights, the cutout on the h1 and h7 are different, also the filament height is different, so if you made it fit, the beam pattern would be all wrong.
hope this helps.
