hello, sorry to ask this question in the wrong place, but have tried the correct forums without any luck at all, where the hell have all the mini/metro motors gone, sold my jeep, got this rotten blown up mini, and need an engine, 2 years ago they were 50p and everywhere, now they are 200 quid and there aren't any, i know i shouldn't be posting here but one of you out there somewhere knows a man who just might have a heavy cast iron push rod engine with its gearbox in its sump, again sorry to ask but i need help!!!

I reckon its a conspiracy because i got shot of the jago

only me again lol,

My Son (Matthew) says have you been on Nick's forum....... www.theminiforum.co.uk

Nick's not too many miles away from you either, at Carbis Bay.
I guess you'd prefer to keep it fairly local....I know of a guy over North Cornwall who's company is involved with Minis etc., so I'll give him a call for you via another forum as well as well.

My neighbour is doing one up as well, so I'll knock on his door

OK so it's not Jago related, but years ago I had a couple of minis. The first was rather a quick one....previous owner had put a 1300 engine in. The best one I ever had though was an import from Holland. A guy used to import them, change them from LHD and re-register them......people thought I had a brand new car!
In those days, Wood and Picket made nice chrome nudge bars (front and back) massive (!!) 6x10's.....real looker in the end.

If I get a result re your engine, I'll e-mail you
regards
Gerry

you really don't want to hear this, but having asked on a couple of forums a guy came back and said......you've got it, it's gone now AND he's in Carn Brae banghead

What condition do you want the engine to be in by the way?

don't need any ancillaries at all, so as long as its got a cylinder head bolted onto it not too bothered, 998 or 1275 will do for the moment, a runner is def prefered as i want to do a track day at castle combe on the last sat of this month, not looking for any super stage 10 race prepped warrior, just something with enough grunt to get my retro 10" mambas and dunlop sps screaming!

Hi , This may be of no use to you whatsoever but a bloke I work with has a little yellow mini just failed MOT on body corrosion- fixable but more than he wants to pay, car was his father's and he had hoped to get it sorted for his son's 17th next year.
I think it is something like a Mini City 1000 but the engine is sweet as a nut and only done 40k miles so has loads of life in it still.
Car is in Carlisle!! but is perfectly driveable, I realise this is a long haul from Cornwall and he would probably want to sell the whole thing rather than have its heart ripped out inthe front garden!!!
No idea of value price but if it looks of interest get back ,

thanks, sorted now after a frantic search around cornwall and devon, got an f plate metro in yellow for fifty quid, 38,000 miles and lovely engine, best bit was we gas torched the engine out after work one evening, and weighed in the rest for scrap the morning after and got thirty quid back, carlisle bit too far for me, but someone will pay good money for it i am sure, amazing where all the metros and minis have gone though, i ouqht to stock pile some ford kas or imprezas now for when my twins start driving, they are three now and all the cool cars will be gone when they start to drive

nice one SMJ....I'd have probably paid a hundred quid for the Metro, then paid someone to take it away lol.
Glad to hear you've got it sorted.

thats cool Mark, the metro is a better engine anyway being an A plus engine where the mini is an A engine, good one
