Hitting the bear was probably a "safer" outcome though? I imagine a moose would probably roll over and hit the windscreen, which could end badly, whereas the bear might not.

Poor bd. Definitely rather the bear than the moose though. They can do some serious damage to the occupants with their antlers if they get stuck in your windscreen headfirst. Then provided you survive that, the bear could always waltz over and borrow one of your limbs for lunch.
