Staples to Naples

Raising money for Cancer Research in a £100 car!

A team of three designers are taking a challenge of driving a £100 banger from England to Southern Italy in the "Staples 2 Naples" Banger Rally in aid of Cancer Research.

Andy Blackmore (34, from Andover), Mark Williams (32, Leamington Spa) and Andy Plumb (32,Macclesfield ) who met while on the Vehicle Design Degree at Coventry University, are looking forward to the chance to take part in the event. "Our first hurdle was the MOT, we sailed through that, so our next challenge will be getting to Dover!”

The rally starts from Calais (Staples Corner would have been too complicated) early on October 1st, with challenges set each day. The route takes the team through most of Central Europe including many of the mountain passes in Switzerland. They aim to reach Naples on the 4th October, over 1700 miles later. In accordance with the rules, Andy, Mark and Andy will be driving a SEAT Toledo worth just £100, which has been liveried up with the aid of emulsion paint and a 2 inch paint brush to show off the British and Italian Flags.

You can sponsor Team Bobbins online by logging on to www.justgiving.com/teambobbins website. With this unique system the money goes directly to Cancer Research and where supporters are UK taxpayers, the charity will also receive a 28% tax reclaim bonus automatically.

Individuals will have their name on the car as a small thank you, while businesses can also donate to purchase spaces on the car for just £50, with all monies going to Cancer Research UK.
