Just heard on the radio. They'll stop racing at the end of the 2004 season.

Not a lot of use to them if they have no cars to put them in though. They only retained Cosworth Racing to give them Jaguar engines for F1. Can't see why they would want to continue running this outfit only to supply customer units to Minardi and Jordan (the two worst credit risks on the grid!).

As Arden F3000 are now sniffing round Jordan, maybe the Maktoum's would be more interested in buying Jaguar? And Cosworth Racing could be an easy route into F1 engine supply for some manufacturer looking at a semi-works involvement ala BMW. I am hoping Audi will nip in (they bought Cosworth Engineering when the two parts split) and badge them as Lamborghini...

Why the tears? Jaguar have consistently been the dulllest outfit our there. They even decided to bin traditional british racing green colours on thier cars because ''it didnt look good on the tv'' - muppets

i was hoping Ford would use the experience that cosworth has in developing engines in some of performance Fords.. some interesting stuff over in the states with cosworth producing components for Duratec engines.. www.focaljet.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=2416358513

Most of the engines that Ford produces are pants. anything that is half decent comes with Cosworth helping out.. V6 duratec and new I4 Duratec are rather nice little engines.. look at Fords history of engines like the Zetec and CVH and it doesn't look good for Ford. just my 2p worth.

looks like Ford is doing a great job of nailing its own coffin..

Cosworth racing is local to my town.

Losing 300 jobs and some motorsport history isn't good.

Next local thing to go will be Jordan I suppose.
