had a crew travelling back from the SE today driving a nine month old Toyota crewcab. They got pulled into a check point and were informed that the vehicle had no valid tax, according to the DVLA. Polce authorised private clamping company to clamp said vehicle even though genuine tax disc was clearly visible. Was told to ring the clamping company and was asked to pay £200.00 by visa. Truck was released and they continued on their way. Told to phone the DVLA and was informed that the said vehicle was not taxed. Informed them of taxation details and they could not understand the error, supposedly looking into it, said in no uncertain terms that I want my money back. Question: why did the DVLA system take priotiy over the obvious disc on display. If it was stolen or forged why did they let my vehicle go upon payment of the fee? Seems like good old fashioned highway robbery to me.

[littlebritainmode] "computer says no!"

seems fecking stupid to me mate,if the twats could see the tax disc then they should have just taken it out of the window, examined it and when it was deemed o.k they should have put it back and you should have been on your way.

seems to me that you got stopped by a bunch of feckwits.
