LONDON : Silverstone racing track owners agreed a five-year deal with Formula One rights holder Bernie Ecclestone to continue to stage the British Grand Prix at the central England venue.

Now I wonder what changed BE's mind - could a certain investigation have something to do with it?

what a dissapointment.
i was hoping f1 would be dropped not only from the uk but also from any tv coverage until they at least try to make it look interesting

Couldn't agree more.

Bernie could be well advised to loose all the electronic wizardry, give the driver a gearstick and clutch pedal to play with, and because the cars go too fast loose the front and rear wings which will slow them down for corners oh and stick 13" rims with road tyres on them. But that would be just silly.

I have seen some of the closest and most exciting racing of my life watching Formula Ford and other club sport. Forget Bernie and his billions get down to Thruxton, Castle Coombe etc and watch some exilarating racing.

It isn't always that easy though cos I love Le Mans 24 hour race and go every year. I feel I can justify it because the tickets are far cheaper than F1 and you get 100 times the value for money. Anyone who went this year or last will probably agree that the last 1/2 hour of the 24 hour race had more excitement than the entire F1 season. (Ross Braun and the Banana excepted)
