Similar story....two extremely obese women are suing an American airline for charging them for two seats each (mainly due to the fact that neither fitted into a single seat!).
Should have charged them for the extra fuel the plane would have needed to get their butts off the runway!
Maybe the two stories are linked... they got fat from eating junk food... got charged double... suing to pay for the extra seat..

Think their argument lies with their claim that these chains misled them by enticing them with greasy, sugary food.
One of the claimants who, unsurprisingly, weighs 20st, has had two heart attacks and has diabetes. says that they've wrecked his life saying that he was conned: I ate it [fast food] more often than not because I was single. It was quick and I'm not a very good cook." What a tosspot. He's just shot holes in his own argument. He's a fat loner who's crap in the kitchen and he's whining because he likes to eat fast food!
I'm sure there's a case over here way back when (poss. Fisher -v- Bell) about a switchblade being displayed in a shop window. I think the court ruled that just because it was on display it wasn't an invitation to buy, merely an invitation to treat.

And I thought ignorance is no defence under the law?????
But,apparantly not in the USA, remember the woman who spilled hot coffee (from Macdonalds) on herself and successfully sued as there had been no warning that the contents was so hot as to cause injury, I believe she was driving at the time too... (hence contents may be hot warnings)
There should be a catch all warning: Not suitable for pig thick, fat assed Americans

It just shows the relationship between rich and poor countries. The USA is the richest country in the world and most people are overweight, and in southern Africa most people are starving. Why don't they kill 2 birds with one stone by putting all the yanks on a diet and send the excess to Africa

Sickening isn't it - there are people in Africa who can't walk from not having enough to eat, and then in America there are people with the same problem from having too much to eat.
Makes you want to go and render yourself unable to walk from having too much to drink.

Just to put some perspective on this, I explained the case to my 7 year-old step-son last night. I told him that some fat people are trying to make McDonalds, BK, etc give them lots of money to say sorry for making them fat.
"But that's silly", he replied. "Its their fault that they're fat - they shouldn't eat so much".
Go figure.
