Fisker Coachbuild reveals pricing

DB9 designer sets supercar level pricing

Following our story on Monday (link below) about ex-AM DB9 designer Henrik Fisker starting new car company Fisker Coachbuild, we hear that the cars will be priced between US$180,000 to US$250,000 -- that's £95,000 to £133,000 at current rates. Fisker's partner Bernhard Koelher said the first prototype will be ready by the end of 2005.

The company is to be based in south California and "will build cars to appeal to the global market", with the objective of combining "beautiful design with existing world-class engineering. The focus will be on designing and manufacturing exclusive high-end sports cars, which will be limited to 150 units per design and sold under the Fisker brand name."

C'mon then.......what underpinnings will they have?

Obviously it'd be great to have an even more exclusive Aston, but I'm wondering if it'll be BMW underpinnings as Mr Fisker designed the Z8 and it's alluminium chassis probably lends itself well to being given a set of bespoke clothes.

Can't wait for more updates

It’s a bit steep isn’t it?

LA - how do you know Mr Fisker? You mentioned on another post that you met him last week. Prepared to spill the beans? If you do get to meet him again, why not ask for a few early sketches so that Ted can have a real scoop on his hands

And as for the price being a bit steep, I'd say that's probably a bit of a bargain considering the small numbers involved. It's a bit difficult to judge as we don't know the specifications of the cars, but unless he's going to re-body a Ford, I say it could be bargain!

An idle thought did occur to me though. Dr Bez (Aston Martin CEO) has often said he saw a market for niche Astons (Bertone Jet2 / Zagatos etc). What do you think are the chances of Mr Fisker being given AMV8 and DB9 chassis to re-clothe?

Either way, I can't wait to see what he comes up with.
