MRSA kills more people than road deaths.....
Discussion
Has anybody spotted the recent article in the daily mail about the fact that apparently more people died last year from MRSA that died on the roads.
Goes to prove exactly where the interests of the government are. £££££££
If they were truly interested in trying to keep up all safe and alive they would solve the MRSA problem, but then again that is much harder to do than it is to punish the drivers.
Don't forget what to do when it comes time to vote. We pay people to do things for us not TO us !!!

Quite, it's obvious what the priorities are.
However, the NHS is trying to address the problem. They have recently installed about 300 additional managers / administrators.
The Conservatives definitely have the right idea: put back the ward matrons who would be responsible (as they used to be) for the general good-running of their ward with particular emphasis on hygiene. ...and cull the administrators!

It was the conservatives who got rid of matrons, hospital cleaners and anyone and anything that cost more money than they should do in their view. More than anyone or anything else, the conservatives did the most to introduce MRSA.
It was the conservatives who did the most to damage the NHS. It was Maggie who set about reducing the status of nurses, (and teachers, and other non productive or money making workers) in our society. It was the conservatives who were vehementally opposed to the setting up of the NHS in the first place.
The only way the conservatives would do anything at all to promote medical and health care in our society is if the whole lot were privatised. Which may not be a bad thing, IMO. At least that way we wouldn't all be on the periphary. If it were all privatised only the poor people would be on the periphary. IMO, of course.
While we can look at the pros and cons of each party, we are currently in a situation where the Emperor Nero Blair has sat back and overseen the increase in civil servants by approximately .7million.
Now, under normal circumstances, that would be admirable, in the event that this increase has actually added anything the the quality of peoples lives. Weel it has actually added to the quality of life for the .7 million employed, but this goes to show that he is after votes, not progress.
While the conservatives may very well have had a significant contibution towards the current state of the NHS, can you actually tell me that labour and their punitive tax regime (real and stealth) have actually done anything to resolve the situations.
I ask you to again consider what you would do to an employee who did more to you than for you....you would simply hand them a p45. Let's try and do this at the next election. Then, and only then will the suffering driver be able to perhaps see a way out of this situation.

Right Consultant speaking - have I got your attention?
Too many clipboards - yes!
Matron(s) - Oi No! The real old fashioned Matron who ran the place with a rod of Iron is gone and won't be coming back, no matter how many Tory MP's might be looking forward to a good caning!
We have twenty three 'Matrons' in our hospital and they are just glorified senior sisters who have to do more admin and less clinical work. The ward staff, trained nurses or HCA's are run off their feet and patients come before cleaning - though they continue to manage to do this.
Handwashing is improving and alcohol gels are everywhere - good.
what about the grubby visitors doing a bit more personal hygiene and when are we going to start talking about the cause of Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) which is irresponsible prescribing of Antibiotics in the community (& hospital). Most patients who acquire MRSA do so in hospital, but as often as not the source of a given outbreak is a patient brought in from the community.
Good - I feel better.
See you on the road
when I get my baby back from Peninsula?

much as I sympathise with the themes of this thread, the Daily Mail is talking absolute and utter drivel. (so whats new). MRSA causes an awful lot of morbidity (i.e pain and suffering) but actually not a great deal of mortality.(death). Whilst MRSA may contribute to death in otherwise susceptible individuals, it very rarely accounts on its own for people succumbing. Apologies to anyone whose loved one died of MRSA but sorry, a mass killer, it just aint true. Far more death is caused by dangerous driving. (And by that I mean stupid, thoughless unskilled driving, rather than fast safe driving.)
