ItaliaSpeed are apparently due to show an updated Stratos concept at the Geneva show on Tuesday, there's a teaser trailer on the website here: www.italiaspeed.com/2005/motor_show/geneva/preview/holistic/2702/2702.html
Looks

Christian Hrabalek - doesn't surprise me, the guy's still in this twenties and he's got the biggest Stratos collection in the world, including the Bertone Stratos concept and two of the rally cars.
That car's gorgeous, but it'll probably go the same way as the Sbarro Oxylatis - the same car that claimed to be the 'Stratos for the 21st Century', but remained an expensive, Ferrari-powered one-off.
I wonder what engine's this got.

OK, so not quite as promising as it first looked...

That view, in that colour especially, is perfect.
But from the front it looks like a badly-bodykitted Mitsubishi Eclipse. And what's with the split windscreen? The original Stratos never had one of those. Clean, simple lines, a pointy, wedgy front and pop-up headlights made the original stratos, the front end of that just looks a mess.
That sketch looked very promising.
But why this?
Hopefully someone at Fiat will realise that since Maserati and Lancia are now effecively in the same fold, a new Stratos with a V6 version of the Maser V8 would stir massive interest and maybe even relaunch the brand for them. No doubt about it, Lancia is currently floundering both in terms of direction and image. A Lancia with the new Fulvia Coupe, a new Stratos and a WRC contender again along the lines of the 'Grale (hopefully not another retro effort though, with the 2 already mentioned ;-) and Lancia could again be a marque with cachet... then again, who am I kidding? This is Fiat Auto after all
