New Lancia Stratos on the way?

Design concept suggests the possibility

The Geneva Motor Show this week saw a design concept by Fenomenon that could be the seed of an amazing new sports car.

Kicked off by Chris Hrabalek, a design student on the Royal College of Art's vehicle design course, the company owns the Stratos name, and is to show a concept car, painted in the same fluorescent red that was used for the Bertone-designed Lancia Stratos' (right) original roll-out at the 1970 Geneva show.

Only 492 of the fabulous supercars were ever produced.

Looks more Gallardo than Stratos to me. Missing that special something that makes the Stratos uniquely yummy.

but if you check out their website (its mentioned in the kit-car forum), there's a rally-outfitted picture - that looks really good, adds the spoilers and vents that the green one misses. But then the original Stratos didnt look as good as when the roof spoiler, louvres and boot spoiler were added.

Its the best up-dated Stratos i've seen, i'd have one like a shot.

Looks like a comic-book Stratos...
Or like a toy car.
Not sure if I like it.
Love the original though.

And as for the Countach: don't touch it.
I don't think there will and can not ever be anything as shocking as the Countach in its days...

I think you are right about the lambo thing.

The proportions are all wrong for a start, it looks far to heavy boned. More Lambo (wedge n vents) / Audi TT (chunk), than the lithe creation I love.

the split-screen is a bit of a major design flaw - it going to be fairly thick to support the roof, gull wing doors, and with all the seals and trim added to it.

The Stratos always reminds me of a snake for some reason. That 'thing' in those pictures looks more like a heavily constipated rabbit.

Would be wonderful to see Lancia back in the UK, and great to see a new Stratos along the same lines as the proposed new Fulvia.

This model looks too short and out of proportion, the original was short enough.

Too stumpy, Proportions all wrong. The graphics are Ok though. It needs streching.

Thunderbirds are GO!!!

If you want one I believe Hawk do a great reproduction of a proper stratos. If you want a modern lime green mid engined thing go see the man at the Lambo dealership. Would be a shame to see the Stratos name taken in vain

I guess it's that "clean cut rendered look" which makes it look wrong. That has translated into the final product in the lower pictures. The stratos has some of those curves which computers don't seem to be able to do for some reason.

Plus if I saw someone in the old one I'd know there was petrol in their veins. The new one looks like it is for selling, not driving....

It doesn't look 'Italian' original or 'special', and it should. No offence to those involved in it's development; but bin it.

If it's not broke don't fix it. Looks like a cheap T shirt design!
