Audi TT dubbed a 'death threat'

Car comes last in pedestrian safety crash tests

Pedestrian safety is being ignored by some of the world's biggest carmakers, consumer test magazine Which? has claimed. It dramatically dubbing the Audi TT, Skoda Superb and Suzuki Grand Vitara 'death threats' because all three scored zero points in the latest NCAP crash tests.

Others that scored eight per cent or under included the BMW's 1 Series, the Jaguar X-Type, the Range Rover and the Vauxhall Astra, while NCAP awarded top marks to the Seat Altea MPV and the Citroen C4.

If old grannies stopped winging about the noise cars made pedestrians would be able to hear them and not step out in front of them, removing the necessity to build cars that have cusions built in.

How many people have been run over by a TVR or Marcos?

None, thats how many. because they are running away with their ears bleeding that why.

Also something like 70% of rta's involving pedestrians are with drunks who don't feel it anyway.

How can they put the Skoda Superb in the list without putting the Passat in, they're the same car.

instead of changing cars why dont they train people to look where there going and to stay off the roads. i know in some cases the cars leave the road, but this is a small amount

Is this another "thin end of wedge" situation where sporty cars will be start to be targeted by the unthinking classes along with 4x4s?

Funny that, given it's built like a house, nearly the same size and weighs about 2 tonnes….

i believe kitchen knives are far too sharp nowadays and would like to see legislation whereby such knives have to be made from rubber.

People should keep out of the road then they wouldn't get run over.

I reckon my TVR is safer for pedestrians, partly because of the low nose to scoop them up and partly because they hear it coming. Traffic and pedestrians definitely give me a wider berth in the TVR than my Audi.

No more a death threat than an Intercity 125 or a 40ft vertical drop, neither of which you'd venture in front of or over without a serious look.

Hmmm. Pedestrian walks in front of car > Pedestrian gets hurt.

Shocking.

Its a CAR - NOT a chuffing bouncy castle. I agree with the knife analogy.

Most of these are fairly old models. The big exception is the BMW 1 series which only came out a few months ago.

Indeed.

...and what about ladders? Look how high you can go without any state interference!

Mmmmm, not so sure, you can't workon a roof now without erecting scaffolding so its onl a matter of time before use of ladders is restricted to properly registered operatives. This is the nanny state you know.

have you seen the new EU legislation for pedestrian safety when in impact with a car? the styling of cars (frontal especially) will be forced to become more and more like a bouncy castle ... unsure if this will also extend to low volume manufacturers like tvr, etc, but certainly the implications for mass manufacturers is significant.

it's all so absurd it's almost laughable. i am not advocating injury to pedestrians but heavens to betsy this st tony bliar politically correct world we are living in is becoming suffocating.

next they will be banning pens for they can be sharp - pass me a crayon, nurse, they don't let me have anything sharp.

wibble!!!
