There is a story doing the rounds on Scoobynet at the moment regarding Tesco's selling 99 Octane SUL fuel.

After some concern that the story was a wind up it has proved to be true.

Has anyone tried this fuel and if so what did you think to it as an alternative to Optimax?

I saw 100 octane on sale in Germany way back last spring or summer.

Haven't tried it. My car engine is rated to work on 87 to 98 octane only.

Maybe old Jags and other cars capable of this unleaded version of Five Star would be tuned to use it.

I think most cars won't be tuned for it.

Need ?

I doubt it - possibly prefer, but most likely will run on anything over about 90 RON.

I recommend having a look in the manual.

I don't think 98 RON is available all over Europe.

I doubt it, but bring it on Tesco if it's true.

Just make sure you get north of north of the boarder, as you don't even sell super 97 ron within 200 miles of us!

You mean where it says (in bold):

"To ensure optimum engine performance and driveability, you are advised to use 98 RON Unleaded petrol."

I suppose as it "most likely will run" on leaded 2 star with a moderate amount of diesel contaminant in it I should use that?
