On the news this morning......

Nicky Grist is out, and Derek Ringer is back in as Colin's co-driver.

Bit of a surprise.

Mentioned something about a strained in-car atmosphere.

well, watching the New Zealand WRC on EuroSpurt last night it seems that McRae holds Gristle responsible for the off he had there..

McRae's a moody bugger.... a man after my own heart.. bloody all the passenger's fault..

Moody, and overrated, IMHO. What's he done since Subaru ? Crash and blow engines, that's what. The Scooby seemed to be the only car bullet proof enough to suit his style of driving.

yeah, must agree that CMC is somewhat over-rated IMO.
he is a very fast and commited driver but whats the point if you never see the finish line!

He's bloody entertaining to watch, and ridiculously quick, just pushes it too hard quite often. But that's better than being scared to push it...

Over-rated?? You know McRae is currently 3rd over all in the championship, 1 point behind 2nd place Burns?

Mr McRae is far from over-rated, he may have a tendency to have Nigel Mansell mood swings but he is one of the greatest drivers on the planet (even Herr Schumacher has respect for his abilities)

A few years ago when Brundle was driving for Jordan and McRae for Subaru their swapped cars at Silverstone as part of BAT promotion and McRae would have put the F1 car in the middle of the grid, setting lap times a fraction off Brundles.

A couple of years later the same was done by Williams and Mitsubishi and Makenin crashed.

The guy deserves some respect, his ability to drive a car hard in totally different situations is amazing (he is one of the few WRC drivers to have won events on all types of surface, most are specialists on one type)

But probably because he's British we must put him down, cos thats what we do with all our heroes.

McRae is a god amongst drivers. Richard Burns is the mood swinging grumpy old sod and this comes direct from Prodrive who have run both drivers in the past.

I think the main reason that the likes of Mansell and Mcrae get "put down" is due to their complete and utter lack of grace.

Granted Mcrae is slightly better now - but to blame Grist for not reminding him to turn up this time last year in Australia to draw lots for the running order and thus lose any chance of winning was a pretty good example of someone who needs to give himself a good hard look in the mirror of life and realise which side his bread is buttered.

Mansell took the biscuit - even when his williams ran perfectly and he nearly lapped the rest of the opposition he would claim that he'd had to manfully struggle against all odds to win - a complete insult to his mechanics and team who had worked their arses off to give him the perfect machine.

Both were/are spectacular and great to watch but IMHO completely lack class.

If McRae is over-rated (and I do not think he is) why did Herr Schumaker turn down a challenge from McRae????
