seconded She told cops she didn’t know Lauren was under her car — but admitted GBH, drink-driving and failing to stop.
FFS - Did she know that she had run her over!!!!!

I would advance that to life imprisonment for attempted murder. Banned from driving for life (which wouldn't matter, because under "Flasher's law" life would mean exactly that.)
If I went out firing a gun while drunk and killed people I would be tried for murder. Please, someone tell me how drink driving isn't pre-meditated. You are well aware that while under the influence of alcohol you could kill someone while driving...
It's her second offence, she obviously wasn't punished hard enough the first time.
I say it's more than time we changed the DD laws and introduced life sentences for DD killers and sad old drunken hags like this.
one solution......

Lots of things seem like a good idea when you're drunk, how many times have you put a traffic cone on your head and pretended to be a dalek when you're sober
However, parking your car in the pub cark park and going in and having a skinfull is asking for trouble

Actually there's a chance you wouldn't be. If it wasn't premeditated whilst sober you might get away with manslaughter or diminished responsibility due to being under the influence etc.
Wrong but quite possible. Any of our resident lawyers care to comment more accurately?
We all hate drunk driving - as its so easily avoided and could, quite possibly, result in a fatal accident. But I wonder if you get in your car whilst totally pissed whether the temporary insanity argument could be employed.
Frankly I hope not - but why not? (Lawyers...)
I doubt that the reason for this incident was drink driving.
If it is illegal to have more than 0.8 per thousand, and she had 0.97, then she probably wouldn't be a better driver at 0.79, which is legal.
What I'm trying to say is, that there are a lot of drivers [speak: numpties] who are not able to take the responability to drive a car, even when they're sober and following the speed limit. Problem is, they don't know it, because everything is well legal.

I've had the unfortunate experience of being involved in an accident. A ten year old boy playing tag ran out into my car. I was in slow moving traffic (stop and go) He was actually going a lot faster than me.
You absolutely know its happenned, there can be no doubt she knew. The small amount of alcahol she had consumed cannot mask that sort of sound.
Banned for life (public need to be protected)
5 years
first year to be spent on that hook
jeff
PS. Boy was ok just a few bruises.

Most of the girls at my school had a decent rack on them
