Finally a decent BBC debate
Discussion
Transport Select Committee's brainless recommendations got an airing on the Today programme and PM on Radio 4 today. The alternative point of view was not put across well on Today ... but Mike Rutherford of the Motorist Association politely savaged moron Louise Ellman (Liverpool Labour MP and member of Transport Committee) on PM. He got across the basic statistics clearly, said driver education and appropriate speed were the answer, not daft restrictions. Daft cow could only bleat some final words like "I have the right to focus on speed" ... couldn't argue with any of the points made by Rutherford. The BBC presenter sharply told her several times to answer the questions directly. Obviously she couldn't. She came across extremely badly.
This is the first time I've heard a decent defence of sensible driving in the media in this kind of head to head debate. Well done Mike Rutherford, you're a top bloke.

Superbly observed, ATG. Very well said, indeed.
What has some lesbo commie got to offer a well structured, modern transport policy, other than lame old Doc Martin'd bile?
Who PUTS these people in such positions of power and influence? Oh yes, silly question. Sorry.
Millie Tant, right?

I heard the guy from ABD on Radio5 last night, just before 6. He got his point across very well, I thought, despite the [normally intelligent] presenters being a bit unfair with comments relating to "moronic drivers". Still, it made him look better.
He wasn't deflected and put over his points coherently. He was even given a few extra seconds to do his "3 Es" plan after they wanted to end the interview.
Good man, well done if you're reading, and apologies for not remembering your name. I might even sign up, now.
