Has anybody of you heard about the Loremo?

The highlights:
* midengine / rear wheel drive
* top speed 160 km/h or 220 km/h
* 450 kg weight
* 1,5 l/100 km or 157 MPG
* 11.000 EUR

I put my name down on the waiting list ... sounds like the perfect car to commute to work with.

You have noticed how you get in and out haven't you?

Notice the total lack of doors.

More here www.greencarcongress.com/2006/02/157_mpg_lightwe.html

Looks like an environmentalists wet dream.

Having said that, the GT version is as fast as my current car and at most traffic lights I'm usually ahead of everyone after 200 yards.

What I want to know is, how do they reckon it'll be at least 250kg lighter than a smart car (which only has two seats). After all they do say its a 3 cylinder 50hp diesel so it'd be similar to the smarts engine. Ods are it'd be Compacted Graphite Iron (CGI) construction and has a turbo.

I think that in production it'll end up weighing 600kd (dry) and end up getting about 80-90 mpg

Yes the entry is indeed ... ermm... interesting. So are the backseats.

However, this is a Prototype for a motorshow, lets wait till the first mass production version will be displayed (if ever).

It surely isn't a petrolheads dream, but it is an interesting little vehicle, and I think it would do nicely for the daily commuting stuff to work and back home. I mean RWD, 0-100km/h in 9 sec, 220km/h top speed and 2.7l Disel on 100km (or 157mpg) for under 15k Euro. - If they really put it on the street, I'll buy one for the commuting buisness and save the roadster for nice weekends.
