From the BBC.

BBC said:
The owners of cars which generate the most pollution would face annual road taxes of £2,000 under Liberal Democrat plans to tackle climate change...

"The idea is not to encourage people to go on driving 'rust-buckets' but actually to encourage them when they're purchasing a new car to buy a car which is consistent with their environmental obligations,"...

The Liberal Democrats' proposals state the £2,000 tax would apply to nearly 200,000 cars in the so-called 'Band G' - 8% of all new vehicles sold in Britain each year.

They were unable to provide any proposed figures for other bands, saying it was too early do so at this stage.

So, does anyone plan to vote for these guys now?

Actually they do have the good grace to say that the new tax levels would only apply to new cars, so it wouldn't make much difference to me. I can see it giving TVR a bit of a headache though.

As Archie's wife from 'Wanda' famously anounced, "they can stick their (tax) right in their bottom(s)!"

Problem is, when the next parliament goes into a likely hung mode, these chimps' deranged brainwaves may well leak into dread reality.

After all, as big Dave keeps reminding us, "vote blue to go green..."

I could cry but I'd have to stop chuckling first.

'Struth, I've just looked at the governments figures for band G cars and they include Alfa 159 V6, BMW 130, VW Beetle, Suzuki Grand Vitara, Skoda Superb and other such "exotica"

Just been listening to the news. Added to the "Unelectable portfolio" is a tax cut of 2p - YAY! To be paid for by more taxes on cars and flights. Frik Off!
