Dream Machines

A decent motoring program at last?

Two Green Flag mechanics have been thrust into the limelight with the launch of a new TV series that challenges motoring enthusiasts to restore classic cars.

Channel Five has called upon the expertise of Steve Bird and Ken Bendelow to help them spruce up 11 of the world's most coveted cars, in preparation for "Dream Machine."

Steve and Ken have been putting the cars through their paces prior to filming, to ensure they are safe and road-worthy. Steve and Ken also feature in the series, talking through the necessary checks, and highlighting what to look out for when restoring a classic car.

"Dream Machine" is presented by Mark Evans and Amanda Stretton, and features cars including a GT40 replica, a 1974 V8 Aston Martin, a 1964 MGB Roadster, and a 1981 Ferrari 308 GTBi. The ten-week series begins on Wednesday 12th March at 8.00pm.

We cannot get analog Channel 5, but it is available on Sky or Freeview. I watch it using my old On Digital box.

At least it'll make a change from the numpty whitegoods / bolt-on-boy propaganda the petrol-fuelled airwaves are currently flooded with.

Looks good! Channel 5 are coming up with some good ideas. "So you want to be an F1 driver!" starts on the 22nd April.
