I’m close to the car being back on the road....well I think I am but then something else crops up!

I got in the car to put on the new gearstick and handbrake gaitors and the gearstick is seriously hard to move around. Now I’m pretty sure this is because the mounts I put on have pushed the gearbox too high, I had a nightmare getting them on and it’s literally hard up against the body as high as it can go.

The ones I bought were from parts but racetech look the same and say for all variants....mines the sp6.

Anyone else had to fit another type...say from the tuscan with two studs which looks shallower?

Unfortunately I should be able to report on the size of the gb mounts in the next few days

However, I can tell you now that the mounts would have to be seriously oversized to present any problems, so I reckon something else is going on

AjP8?

My bracket set up is not like that....I previously changed the clutch, flywheel and fitted a RP slave and it was all good when on the old mounts.

Long story but someone else removed the gearbox and chucked the mounts before the engine went to powers for re-build so I just bought what was shown as correct when putting it all back together...another long story..

I’ll take a pic of my setup and upload.

Whats the plan for yours?

Swapped the mounts for 28mm green double studs (ones fitted to the T cars I think) and it’s now spot on.

So the ones pictured below just before I removed to replace, were not suitable for mine.

Looks like the SP6 chassis mounts and gearbox brackets are completely different to the AJP8

Does that mean the propshaft is a different length too?

I assumed the gearbox would sit in the same place, but since the SP6 crank is very long, perhaps everything is moved backwards

The SP6 prop is around 30-31” long.

These photos may help you compare positions against your 8.
