Can anyone help and put my mind at rest please;

I'm putting new bearings on the rear hubs after restoration, the hubs have been painted and galvanised, have put them all together but the rear bearing bolts although they fit and nip up tight they seem to be far back in the bearing holes if that makes sense. This is the rear hub;;

This is the front hub;

So as you can see the bolt goes all the way through - but doesn't on the rear - I've measured the bolts and they are as Tanguero's notes below;

Bearing to hub M12 Coarse 30 HT 6

Thanks

I've learnt through my mistake to keep old parts even when replacing with new, to be able to swap back if necessary when diagnosing issues

I would definitely replace them with longer bolts, I don't think there is anything that even 10mm longer bolts could foul

Hi ukkid35 - thanks for replying, they are the originals - I was just expecting them to go further then they do - I know the hub's been galvanised and the back plate (handbrake plate) as well but wasn't expecting them to be that much shorter really - I think I'll go for M12 40mm and then then should give me a couple more mm of clearance.

Those threads look shiny and clean, so something has changed significantly - I can't think what though

OP says it's a new bearing, I'm guessing generic, thicker casting possibly?

I had the same with mine.. zinc and powder coat thickness of coating on inner and outer sides I think. Trouble is you put the next size bolt up in (5mm) and it catches on the shoes. I think put the next size bolt up in and spaced it with a washer so it didn’t catch
