Hi all,

I've been struggling through for a while with a gearbox without second gear. Pretty sure it is just the syncro that is damaged. Given that traveling about is now possible and the sun has come out does anyone have one that they could be parted from? I'll repair mine when its off the car but I'd rather not have the car off the road for the length of time it will take me to get around to doing it.

Yes but no 5th Gear

And despite what the seller claims you can't get a TVR 5th Gear Set anywhere at all

I've been looking for a 5th Gear Set for years!

I had a 5th gear problem a few years ago now, and these people were very helpful:

Perhaps worth a try, if not already done so?

Actually there is one box that would fit which is being sold by tvrspares, TVR Glen in Northumberland

'TVR T5 GEARBOX CHIMAERA /GRIFF TYPE'

Not cheap though

Thanks for the lead

Although Graham initially replied saying the gear set was available, he has not got back to me with a price which doesn't bode well

I'm trying to avoid taking the car off the road for any length of time. I'm going to rebuild the one on the car as I'm pretty sure it is only a syncro that has been damaged by the clutch not disengaging properly.

Thanks for looking and suggestions.

There are many vids on YouTube about the T5 - this series I found to be the most informative and easy to follow. Just rebuilt mine.

Great series and very useful, but it is essential to watch the TVR 5th gearset video, because the size of the gear makes disassembly/assembly quite tricky

This won't be my first rodeo. I rebuilt this box a few years ago when 5th gear went walk about. Those videos were very helpful!

I'm more than a little frustrated that the clutch has played up and hasn't been releasing properly leading to the 2nd gear syncro getting damaged. I should have investigated the clutch earlier but it was kinda working so I drove it. Two stints at Rockingham might have been what finished it off.

At least the Cerb has enough torque that you can skip 2nd most of the time!
