Snipped from a YT video obviously

This gearshift gaiter aluminium surround ring, my car doesn't have it. Perhaps it once did but i bought it without an engine or gearbox (with the gaiter and the shifter extension lever in the boot) but no ring.

Thanks smile

I think they are after market. You see them on Chimaeras and Griffiths too, but they weren't fitted when new.

Thanks.

In a standard car is the gaiter sewn into the tunnel?

No, it just sits in there, which is probably why people fit them, to smarten it up a bit. smile

The handbrake cover, gear knob and gaiter ring all look like Leven accessories, but I think they stopped trading some years ago.

I've got the old Leven handbrake cover, it's nicer than that one. That one looks like one you can still get on Amazon or ebay.

As said the gear surround isn't standard, the leather can often get damaged around there so it's not a bad way of covering that up.

Leven type surround, a popular aftermarket add on.

My leather gaiter is just stuck to the underside of the center console, I bought a new one about 15 years ago

This is my old tatty one, I've kept in case i need a template.
No glue marks on this one, which tallies with previous remarks it was tucked in or maybe a couple of staples

RTRacing did the gearstick surround first, I don't know if other firms have since copied it. The surround is a flat circle shape, whilst the transmission tunnel is slightly shaped, so some of the surrounds I have seen, don't fit flush to the tunnel and stand a bit proud; not looking that great.

Yeah 2 or 3 places did that type of aluminium gear stick surround. From the factory the leather was just glued in place. Due to heat the glue would fail hence they are often a bit messy.

this has been looked into but hasn't gotten very far.

I was given a 3d printed one to test but some of the problems is that the hole isn't always round and the same size.
