Hi,
Does anyone know this Green Cerb for sale at a dealer;

Is this price likely to be too good to be true or about right for time of year etc. and is it true you should stay away from the 96 Chims as they're more unreliable than the later models?
I was originally budgetting this much for a Chim but am sorely tempted to at least take a look as I soooo love the Cerbera.
Obviously I would never buy without a full inspection but any first hand knowledge or opinions would be great before having to pay out for one.
The dealers based in Stamford so I'd guess the car is originally from that area.

I realise this and have a budget of a couple of grand a year for servicing and from reading these forums this may/may not be enough depending on luck, driving style etc. I only do about 6k per year anyway so 'hopefully' won't run into many problems.
Main reason I'm asking about this particular car is to see if anyone knows it or any of its previous owners, to let me know how well its been looked after and if any of the major problem areas (cams, clutch etc) have been ironed out already.

Having just spent a few months trawling and finally buying a Cerb to replace my Chim, be warned! There are a lot of dogs out there, and you can throw every assertion in the book at every car - from lacking history, to smokey exhausts and scrubbed tyres.
It does look cheap, and I'd think twice about a car at a dealer such as that, as looking down the rest of their list, they don't have anything close to a Cerbie - so chances are they don't know what they're selling! Whilst this can be good (I picked up my Chim dirt cheap as the Ferrari specialist hadn't got a clue what it was really worth), it does mean YOU need your wits about you when you check it out.... six of one / half dozen of the other on that argument!
Simple rules, never buy the first one you see, and never ever take your chequebook to any viewing - or by then you'll be too hooked.
Final aside, I can't comment about my Cerb yet as it's early days, but my Chim definitely benefited from doing 10,000miles in 8 months - it didn't skip a beat - and it would seem the Cerbs are if anything more malcontent if left sitting still for more than a day or so....

Agreed it does look cheap and possibly the dealer is out of his league trying to sell such a specialist car, possibly the reason its so cheap. The location of the car does bring it into Rob Inglebys area and I would NEVER purchase one (especially not from a known specialist) without a professional inspection.
I'm going to have a look on Saturday and if I'm happy will shell out his £200 quid inspection fee, an amount I'd far rather lose than buy a dog on my own back.

I remember this car as the owner had it on PH (Martin?), trawled through cars for sale/sold and it's gone.. During my aerial bombing campaign for a Cerb, I did offer him close to what this guy is asking subject to an inspection but he turned me down on the basis that he felt the car was worth the money and that it was his until sold, obviously he changed his mind or perhaps he was the dealer selling it then, as I believe he was also selling an S2 via PH?. I wouldn't be put off by the fact it is with an unknown dealer provided you can get all the relevant information from him and have it inspected by Rob. The plus of negative posts about cheaply priced cars is that people could stay clear unnecessarily and eventually push the price down further.. like a one owner 13K mile 1998 speed 6 that went for £11K

Your old car was nice but the dealers could'nt supply me with any info as to what work had been carried out and really weren't filling me with confidence on its history so I walked away. Also looked like it needed a little too much TLC on the interior.
Shame you didn't reveal yourself earlier as things may have been a little different had I been able to quiz/grill the previous owner.
Your old car has now been sold anyway (went on Sunday). Are you buying another with your proceeds or have you had enough of Cerbs for the moment?
