Does the so called "F1-Panel", which is covering the section between engine and radiator has a "real" technical reason or is it mainly for esthetics?

Mines not been fitted for 3 years.

It may make airflow slightly different- but i think it’s just nah jewellery and gets in the way of mechanical inspection- so to the shed with it!!!! biggrin

Mine's been off for 17 pf the 18 years I've owned her.

Engine front may get dirtier quicker but not noticeably.
Chassis tubes stay cleaner because they are not hiden under the cover and you have to look at them every time you lift the bonnet.

I can't see that cover's position having any aero effect, given the distance it would be from the passing road surface IMHO.

Early lower or later upper model? I was all about directing the hot air from the radiator and stopping air getting under the bonnet at speed wasn't it?
