Gah

I've read a number of threads on here about Cerbera wheel bearings being problematic and different parts under the same part number etc. I'm replacing all 4 and, worried about issues, just bought 4 from a well known supplier that came as complete hub and bearing assemblies.

Have refurbished the uprights, reassembling the chassis and none of them fit. Not just a paint issue, 1-3mm difference between the ID of the holes in the uprights (front and rear) and the OD of the hub/bearing.

Comparing the new ones with original, yes the original ones are chamfered, the new ones are not. Is this the case with all new bearings/hubs? Can I buy new ones already chamfered or do i need to get them machined? I wonder if modifying the uprights is a better idea scratchchin

It depends on brand, from what I've seen. If you stick to Timken they fit, but a lot of the Chinese pattern ones don't.

Thanks, i'm not sure what brand these are but i'm returning them and it looks like the ones from Motaclan have the chamfered shoulders so hopefully get the right ones this time

I've never had a problem with wheel bearings, but when the car was stripped to the chassis, it was one of the items I replaced, just because.

Yeah why not? Dead easy to change too.

I ordered a set from Motaclan and they are perfect - great service from them, they even went and opened one in the warehouse and took a pic of the actual part for me.

Same part number as the bearings I ordered from AN Other vendor (I won't name and shame publicly) and in fairness to them, they've taken the square shouldered parts back for a full refund.

Hello, is there any alternative partnumber for the wheel bearing?
It is very hard to find parts in Germany for the TVR Cerbera 4.5

Thank´s for your help

Bought 4 after speaking to seller and having asked him to pull one out of the box to measure (against 5 used items I had a round me)...having bought a used upright, they fitted perfectly to both front and rear uprights.
THEN, I bought a new upright, as I got fed up waiting for a used one to appear (I am building a spare rolling chassis), from Motaclan and it does not match the original machining, SO, the upright is in being machined, as the bearing fits the hole BUT the depth of the recess is incorrect. A@

Yeah i'm having trouble with uprights on my restoration.

Having been told the original cast front ones should have been replaced under a recall in 2001 (!) i am struggling to get a pair. Got a RH front upright from Motaclan but the left hand one is unavailable

Perfectly as in snug?

Ive purchased the Timken hub assemblies (ZJ Grand Cherokee and TJ Wrangler) for the C0942 and C0943 front uprights and there's 0.5mm of sloop. Fortunately, we need to space the bearing out 10mm so machining a collar/spacer to make them snug.

perfectly. Not an interference fit but no slack at all.

Are you using those tuscan uprights on your cerb? what else have you had to change?

No, these are installed on my modified LSA/8hp Chimaera chassis project. Ive read but can't confirm the Tuscan 2/Sagaris uprights were fitted to the last of the Cerbs with a decreased 6 degree KPI angle. I have a 2003 4.5 Cerb, but haven't checked what version I have.

C0942 and C0943 (Mk4's) run with the curved (improved lock) top wishbones. (I have a set being made ATM for my chassis, rather than buying either used or available previously powder coated in white versions). This combination negates the mod of using of the Sagaris low droop version steering arms is my understanding. A@

Are you sure you've got the right hubs? It should be Cherokee not Grand Cherokee IIRC.

The upright geometry changed in March '02 when the Tuscan S came out. The top wishbone was then changed again, with a more curved front leg, to allow more steering lock on the T2/Sag, which is why some people mistakenly think the steering rack ratio was changed on later cars.

Yep, Timken 513084, fits the Cherokee too.
