Diagnostic time! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
Discussion
I have a problem with my n/s rear, i have searched the forums but must be typing the wrong keywords!!
I have noticed a small clonk from the rear wheel when reversing off my drive on full lock. As i pull off with full lock in the opposite direction i got a very small clonk. Happened during normal driving once in a blue moon too.
However........I was coming back from London yesterday, at 70 in the inside lane (low petrol otherwise would have been in excess of the national speed limit) when the following happened:
Clonk got louder but, when it clonked the car nearly changed lanes, into the middle one, all by itself, a few seconds later and clonk, it straightened up again!
this persisted every 5 or 10mins! Scared the life out of me the first time!!
Any idea's? I have the cerbera manuals so have all the part numbers for replacements!

Definately a diff problem. The noise could be due to something being very worn or even broken within the diff itself. It sounds like the limited slip part of the diff is affected, hence the noise on full lock.
I wouldn't have thought this would cause the car to change direction though, more a wishbone issue causing the car to steer from the back.

Well, spent hours checking the whole suspension on the near side rear. All bushes seem ok, no problems with any wishbones bening bent or not where they should be.
Didnt look to hard at the diff tho, the whole change of direction thing stoppped me looking there. Now i guess i need that checked!
What a nightmare problem, its fine for ages, then has this problem and then is fine again!
