May I seek some advice?

I haven't had either but I've seen a lot over the last couple of years.
Before I decided it was a cerb I had to have, I thought about the griff/chim thing. For me it would have to be a griff. Simple reason is that, although the chim is similar in body shape to the cerb, as a two seater roof down car the griff has better lines. In the end I decided that I had to have the much more practical option!!!

Get a Tuscan. 
Gazboy, I initially considered both a Chim and a Griff when i was thinking of getting a TVR. They were certianly cheaper (especially the Chim) but to be honest it was the Cerb i was in love with so i had to go for it.

I'll take you up on the ride please, not sure about owning one though- I'm only spending 15k, is wise to pick up a Cerbie for 15k?
Well, I bought a Cerb for £15k a year ago, and you can read all my trials and tribulations on here if you fancy scrolling back a bit...
I'll tell you in more detail at the next LB meet if you're there, but the upshot is that a £15k Cerb will probably need a bit of attention to start with but after that you'll be fine. It's up to the individual car as to how much that attention will cost you!
You're also most welcome to come for a spin at the next LB meet, i'm sure Greg will understand if you are too embarrassed to be seen in a yellow car
Had a Griff before the Cerb and loved it. Kept it for 5 years and nearly shed a tear when I finally sold him. Would go back to a Griff if I wasnt having so much fun with the Cerb.
Just for the record, golf clubs fit on the parcel shelf of a Griff, but if the Chim owners find that out they will all be trading UP and pushing the Griff prices up again, so go buy one soon

In a nutshell, the Griffith & Chimaera are the same mechanically, but you choose which shape you prefer. The Griffith will cost more to buy for a given year. But they both offer top down motoring. If you don't want a convertible then go for a Cerbera and accept the higher purchase price and running costs.
I picked up my Cerb 4.2 a couple of weeks ago, having previously run a 1998 4.0 Chim for 8 months and 10,000 miles. Utterly faultless, and once I'd escaped from Bridgestone and gone to Toyo tyres, a cynch to drive in even torrential rain.
First impressions, the Cerbera needs a bit more respect, and currently will step out of line given any provocation, whereas the Chim was more stable and less easy to get out of shape. It's up for sale on PH (plug plug) at the mo....
I went for the Chim as the TVR was to be my daily driver, so I needed more boot space than the paltry pocket in the Griff. Plus £16k got me a mint 1998R with 24k on the clock, whereas a Griff would have probably needed a bit extra to get one in good nick, or similar age.
The Griff also has a reputation as a bit of a beast - so for both reasons of insurance, and driver sanity, I thought my first foray into TVR territory should start gently....
But now look at me.... another £16k later and I'm in a 1996 4.2 Cerb with 22k on the clock..... but having said that, it been in the garage for a week since I got it sorting all the problems the seller didn't mention............ here comes a hefty bill. Thats why on the advice of the chaps here I bought UNDER my budget, to leave some cash spare for the neccessaries - whereas the Chim was perfect out of the box.

I dont think I will ever own a griff/chim, purely on the basis of safety. The full cage and side impact bars on the Cerbera are nicely substantial.

Agree totally. 1 bit of ageing, painted plastic for side-impact protection just doesn't cut it for me. Was quite glad to be in the Tusc when run off the road the other week.
