No longer clocking on the miles???
Discussion
Hi All
I have a 97 4.2 and the mileage has just stopped as it went to 26000 miles. This happen on Sunday; you know when you watch for all the numbers to line up and start thinking I've must have done more than a mile by now!!!
It's frozen just short of 26000, has any one got any ideas??
Cheers
John
Thanks to all
I think I'll leave it for week and see if it will start again.
Cheers

If it doesn't start working again the you need to take out the speedo. Make a hole in the black plastic at the back so that you can see the spindle coming out of the little motor thingy. Hook an elastic band round it and use the band to spin the spindle manually.
Some other people have taken the speedo out the housing by removing the metal surround on the front but I didn't want to risk damaging that.

Happened to me recently and a few times on the chimaera before that
A bit difficult to explain how I got it going again, but here we go.
I used to flick down/across the juorney reset button which used to jog the wheels just enough to start them up again.
No sure if that makes sense
??????
............ but I know what I'm talking about
good luck

A common problem
Mine did it at 26k too and then intermittently mended itself some time later - remedy new sensor. Then it did it agin a few thousand miles later and did'nt mend itself - remedy another new sensor. Two new sensors in teh space of a year - something cannot be right with them
