Hi Folks

I have some dreaded brake judder from the front disks and did a few searches on the forums. Seems there are a few opinions on solutions from skimming to new disks to "stand on the brake pedal on an empty road".

It is getting quite bad and I don't want to cause any damage to track rod ends. Is it necessarily a case of new disks? I think I'm right in saying that the AP units on the front of the 4.5s are quite costly. One independent has suggested about 1200 fitted. Does that sound right?

TIA

I've had mine skimmed (twice) and it cost me about £50. It worked well for me and if you've got plenty of metal before you get to the wear limit then it must be worth trying before splashing out on new disks.

seeing as a quick check on the web reveals one indie doing an upgraded package for only 981.13incl vat fitted i'd suggest 1200 pounds was a bit steep

That seems well expensive as I recently had new discs and pads on the front of my 4.5 for 469.25 including VAT. That included cleaning the earth straps and checking the levels as well.

That would be the one! I was saying to Joos this afternoon, that the brake upgrade was one of the last ways for him to extract some proper money from my wallet!!

Aha. As you know this particular Cerb so well could you do it a bit quicker and drop the price by 10%

I'm already 18% cheaper than the other place you went to first .. and my quote is for front discs, caliper spacers, front pads, rear pads and dot 5.1 fluid. cheeky effer.
so the answer's No!

Yes, it sounds like malman has found the best web page. A long read but worth it.
