Changed the starter motor on Saturday. Slower than Joules!

It did not take 37 minutes, it didn't take 2 hours, it took 3 and a half!

Rails and manifolds off, breathing bits off, disconnected the wires, various pipes, pulled it all away.

Little shim that goes under the intake manifold falls down in to the V.

Now I'm taking the whole of the contents of the V, alternator and coils off. Find the bit! thank goodness!

Pull out old starter motor that has had the cable worn through by the funny clip thing that holds the heat deflector! What is that!!!!!

Took about 45 minutes to put it all back together, hastled by background sounds of:

"How long did you say this would take?"
"Why don't you ring Jenks?" (he came round later, thanks Dave)
"Are you meant to be bleeding from the forearm?"
"How many miles has this car done?"
"The crack in your ars* is showing?"
"Does this mean that we will be going out in the Frontera tonight?"

Works now

Or the even brighter side, knowing now which positions wont make him more attractive to members of the opposite sex.

Learn how to change the starter motor whilst swinging from the chandalier, and then you'll be a man, my son
