Was due to see a 4.2 Cerbera advertised on this site this morning at 9.30am in the Maidstone area.
Had been in email contact with the guys during the week, and spoke on the phone to the seller yesterday to confirm a 9.30am viewing today.
We agreed I would call when I hit the M20 and be guided in.
Get to the M20 at 9.20am this morning, call no answer. Give it 5 mins, call again, no answer leave a voicemail. Get a couple of junctions down the M20 and stop so I dont go too far. Sit there for over half an hour calling, before realising im not going to get an answer!!
VERY P***** OFF. I do not like my time being wasted at all!!
I was not given an address per say either. I was given a postcode earlier in the week, so I could gauge distance/time etc. But no house number. Didnt take that with me, as I was expecting to be "guided in" from the M20. And seen as we had been in contact a fair few times on email, a level of trust was built up. So I figured all was well.
Anyway, the guys friend was my initial point of contact, and his number is on the ad, but I didnt go armed with that, however, just got home now, and called to see what is going on, and why I wasted the best part of my Saturday morning, no answer!!
In future, I will ensure I get a full address, and home telephone number. Mobiles just arent reliable enough forms of contact. Im not impressed, and I am really not a happy person right now.
Was hoping to have a Cerbera for the long weekend, got the money in my account waiting to be spent, but seems unlikely now. In fact, Im so p***** off, Im not going to waste anymore time looking this weekend.
Maybe there is some sincere reason why I did not get my calls answered this morning, and didnt get to see the car as arranged. But GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

let it go man, people are often unfathomable: if you spend any time trying to work out why people do one thing and say another, youll drive yourself barmy.
the car does look loveley, but ask yourself this: if he was unreliable and unwilling to answer the phone BEFORE you bought the car, what on earth would he have been like when you needed to ask anything after youd given him your hard earned?
try and think of it as a lucky escape. not easy when you had your heart set on something i know, kinda like being stood up and never finding out why.(erm..not that id know about that, all the chics dig me. honest)
get some rest, theres tons more to be had, from people who'll youll feel happy you bought from. the seller is as valuable part of the equation as the car, nes pas? take some solace from the fact that you'll do it better next time, and he'll probably do it the same. good for you, bad for him.

The seller may also have a good reason for not responding (don't want to temp fate). I know how you feel though, travelling all that way, getting your hopes up and then being so badly let down. Not sure if it helps but I travelled a 500 mile round trip on two occasions to see two Cerbs prior to buying my current Cerb, that was among the various 100 mile + trips to see quite a few others. The right one will turn up eventually.
On the flip side of the coin, when I put my Chim up for sale on PH, I had an email from a guy who said he was very interested. The email was short and grammar was not the best. However I replied telling him all about the car. I got another email back, again short asking when he could come and look at the car, again even worse grammar, by this time I assumed it was kiddies messing around, and I wasn't the most courtious in reply.
Turned out this guy did actually buy my Chim, and he wasn't use to PCs or email; you live and learn! I was 100% convinced this guy was a 12 year old playing about! Glad I wasnt 'too' discourtious!!! lol

I've been thinking about this, I actually really liked the look and sound of that Cerbera. Had all the bits on it I wanted, 182 spiders, lights done etc, but it was a 4.2. I was really after a 4.5, but wasnt going to rule out a good 4.2.
If this guy called me now, and had an explanation of why I lost 2hrs 45 mins of my saturday morning, when a text, phone call, email, could easily have prevented that.... would I still be interested in the car?
And I think the answer probably has to be a big NO. Something is not right about whats gone here, and who knows what that is, but you have got to trust the seller, and have a certain level of respect. You build a relationship when buying a car.
A few years back I was in exactly the same situation when buying my Scooby WRX STI Type RA. Only this time the guy was in Scotland!!
Same thing, email contact, calls, and a £160 flight to Edinburgh. But we had built a "relationship" beforehand and the guy was an active member and forum user of the SIDC website. He knew and was known by quite a few on the site, but I still took a calculated risk flying up to see that car, and fortuanately it was what I wanted and the only flying I did on the way back was in that car!! ;-)
As for yesterday, well, all sorts going through my head as to why I drove to Maidstone only to sit in some layby, trying to call the guy to no avail.
I sincerely hope nothing nasty has happened, cos well you never know, but whatever it was, a call/text anything would have been the right thing to do, to let me know not to bother putting in the miles/effort/time etc......

Only joking, you must be really hacked off, but the good thing is that maybe you have escaped from buying a bit of a dog if the guy cannot be a**ed to answer a phone for somebody coming to have a look.
