Ok guys i think my cerbie must have known i was on my way to my first ever tvr meet as it has just packed up my clutch has given up the ghost...... gradually found it more difficult to get in any gear.... limped back home with no clutch at all using the rev speed technique to ease it into gear. On arrival at my humble abode i promptly got stuck into bleeding the hydraulics and got loads of mucky stuff out, now all bled still cant get it in any gear, have loads of pedal pressure so cant be that, also when i did manage to get it into gear on the way home there was no slipping so the pressure plate must be ok ???
Any ideas as id really love to be able to make it to the london meet but am looking forward to a day stuck at home by the looks of things

My symptoms were exactly the same and my pot was full but it still turned out to be the slave and the master had gone in sympathy.

Hope you get sorted quick, HHC did a fantastic job for me and got me back on the road in less than a week even though they were booked solid. Good luck.

am thinking of doing it myself if parts are readily availible, have been reading lots of old posts on clutches so i think an exploritory operation is needed to fully diagnose the fault, of course any help will be welcome.

Is there any fluid in the footwell? Master
Any fluid on the ground? Slave
Fluid gone but nothing showing in footwell/ground? Slave?
Everything normal but no clutch? Fingers?

No idea mate sorry... from what you said I would guess at fingers.

Take some small amount of comfort knowing you're not the only one missing out, I barely got home myself tonight and am being low loaded tomorrow. There'll be more meets to go to, good luck, hope you get sorted out soon!

I have just done my own slave and master. Not a difficult job but you need a lift and all the right gear in order to get it done in a day.

Seeing as you have gunk in the master then even though you do not know this problem is caused by the slave either the slave or the master is on its way out. I would tend to think fingers really and the fact that there is gunk in the master is just a coincident.

If the pedal feels normal, even now then it has to be the fingers. If one of the cylinders had gone then it would feel 'spongy'.

I am in Essex and as I sad have done the slave before. I cant see the clutch is much more work. If you are on a budget PM me and I will see what I can do. You need to get the slave seals from Joolz, he is the only person with the uprated ones. DO NOT GET THEM FROM A DEALER, unless they get theirs from Joolz.

Cheers,

Nick

Good luck with it.

If you have can and feel like it, do you fancy taking loads of piccies and maybe making up a FAQ for the rest of us.

Got the clutch out and it was the fingers, the release bearing looks a little worse for wear too.

Took a photo of it but havnt worked out how to put it on here yet so have a look on my profile as its on there.

Will be ordering a new clutch, release bearing, slave sylinder and maybe a starter motor too.

Think while i have the exhaust off a decat might be in order so shall enquire about getting some pipes....ROARRRRRRRR!!!!

Aha thats the kiddie.... looks like its one of the old type so i will need to buy the new spec clutch which means a new bellhousing to i think. Better get a part time job to pay for it all i suppose hehe.

I think you have the later clutch because it has damping springs on the friction plates which early ones don`t have.

Its only the very earlest clutches that need to be changed. You can modify the bell housing on the later cars, or fit a new one.
