Hi,

I'm considering getting another cerb, I sold mine about 2 1/2 years and bought a Nissan Skyline R34 GTR V-spec. Which I cant fault as a car, but I really miss all the good points of owning a cerb, i'm just ignoring all the downsides at the moment.

I would like to buy a cerb and basically look at keeping it as a long term 2nd car. The only things i'm concerned about are long term availability of parts, and the possibility of the official tvr manuals coming available in the future.

As the cerb was such a low volume car will parts quickly dry up now that they are no longer made.

I would hate to end up with a car where getting parts was virtually impossible or horrendously expensive - well more than they are now anyway

Clutches, starters things like that have always been pricy, but they're independant of TVR so prices should stay reasonably level.

The engine itself, yup, prices have already increased, and will increase into the future. Small numbers, less profit, so price hike.

Gearbox is a standard T5, differential is a standard BTR setup... brakes are AP... discs can be sourced from a number of people now... in regards to suspension there is plenty of aftermarket support most notably the nitrons, exhaust systems - plenty of customs. Wheels - plenty aftermarkets. Body bits - plenty of support from a number of body specialists.
Chassis support, quite a few companies who can work on them and build new wishbones etc etc.... Powersteering? go to joospeed and get the electric mod done to no longer worry about powersteering issues...

Engine internals is where the costing is, my guys, www.tvrcraft.com can re-build any engine using their own racing forged internals and increase your engine capacity, and the prices can be cheaper than factory rebuilds and parts, unless you want something crazy...

So - I would say, based on the above, owning the car isnt really a big problem, I believe the Cerbera Register - www.cerbera.info/ is doing a full list of all suppliers of various bits for the car, so anything required - you'd have a list of companies who can help out.

The cerbera is a classic, with numbers going down each year due to write-offs etc.... soon you'll be the only one for miles to have one...

Thanks for the reply Phoenix, it was exactly what I was looking for.

I have been away from this forum for a couple of years, but have noticed on my return there appears to be a lot more info available regarding alternative parts other than just from TVR.
